I decided to read Chapter 10, “The Art of Metacommentary.” I chose this chapter because like the chapter stated, I did not really know what metacommentary was. I thought it might have been a conversation that the author has with the readers. It is a way of explaining what an author has written. It is very common in speaking too. Metacommentary ensures that the audience does not misinterpret their ideas. In some situations, metacommentary tells readers how and how not to understand the writer’s claims and statements. In my paper, especially after evidence I included a metacommentary in a few spots. I found that I already use it a little bit while writing but after quotes was the easiest to add more off. When I was explaining the quote, and connecting to my main idea, I found that using metacommentary allowed me to truly clarify what I was talking about. I used it to ensure that the audience doesn’t misinterpret what I am talking about.
